Houdini Part Two

Okay so if you've kept up with our blog from the beginning then you know we had a "swaddle houdini" on our hands when Bo was very young! Apparently he has carried that "talent" along with him as he's grown! The other day I left him for 10-15 mintues (I was close by) but he was finishing dinner and I had laundry to finish so I put on Sesame Street to buy me some time. I come back and find this!! And YES he was strapped in when I left, NO he didn't unbuckle himself, he has learned how to pull his arms and legs out of being strapped in!?!? THIS is why he's going to stay in his crib until he's 13 if I can help it!
P.S.-Don't you love how I ran and grabbed the camera instead of ensuring my child's safety and getting him off of there :)

Welcome Home Mr. & Mrs. Davis

So my brother and his new wife :) have just returned from a week in Hawaii! My parents picked them up this morning from the airport and drove them home where they were welcomed by this beautiful sign!

Yesterday afternoon my parents decided to surprise Barney & Emily by going over and cutting their yard for them. We have the best parents ever and this is totally something they would do! When they got there they noticed this sign in the yard. My brother has started his own plumbing company on the side of being a fireman, if you are wondering where the "plumbing" comes from. When they got home this morning my brother knew exactly who had done it, apparently some of the other firemen thought this would make a nice welcome home sign! Congrats to you both, we can't wait to hear all about your trip! We love you!!

Here are a few random pics I got during our very short trip!

On our way...we actually got out of the house by 6:30am that's a record for us!

He loves to play trucks and cars with Pop!

Enjoying a snack with Uncle Barney after his nap.

Just getting a little work done. This started right after I was on the phone and making notes haha! Although he's using the "remote control" phone!

"Yes, I'll be sure to give mom the message"

Sitting in mommy's Big Bird chair from when she was little...watching Cars of course!

Barney & Emily's Wedding

This past weekend we headed to MS for my brother's wedding. We had such a wonderful time. It was a beautiful wedding and we had a blast seeing family we hadn't seen in a while. Of course they all fell in love with Bo! My Aunt Lu and Uncle Jory watched Bo for us during the ceremony. Once we brought him into the reception hall he was ready to party. Once he heard the band he started bouncing up and down to the beat, even just sitting in his booster seat. I never dreamed he'd last the entire reception but he did. Towards the end we had a "diaper malfunction" which meant he was left to just his shirt, but that didn't keep him off the dance floor. Even while the band was taking a break I caught him running up to the drums and hitting the cymbals. For the record we will not be accepting any gifts that come in the form of drums...my parents have already been warned!

It was a beautiful weekend and we were so excited to be included in the wedding. Congratulations to Barney & Emily, we love you both so much!

Mr. Clean

One day last week Bo and I were outside sweeping off the decks and watering flowers. He decided he wanted to help and he did such a great job! Hmmm, I wonder how long this will last?

1st Day of MMO

It's finally here...I've waited for this day all summer. Bo's first day of Mother's Morning Out! He's attending North Metro Baptist Church, and will be going every Monday & Wednesday from 9:00am-12:00pm. I absolutely adore his teachers, they are great! They do have a structured day which includes...free play, craft time (which is usually coloring, play doh, etc), music & story time, outdoor play time, snack time and clean up time.

Today went about as well as I thought it would. They have carpool so the assistant teachers unload the children out of the car and carry them in to their rooms. As soon as the door opened the tears started, he was so upset but I knew he'd be just fine.

When I went to pick him up Ms. Kaytie said he did cry on and off throughout the morning, but in between he was happy and played. I know it won't be long before he's running down the hall to his room (at least that's what I've been told)...as long as I can get him to get back into his car seat!

If you are wondering what mommy did while he was at MMO...I ran so many errands I didn't know what to do with myself. Lots to do to get ready for my brother's wedding this weekend! I had forgotten how quick you can get things done without a kiddo to carry around, it was great!!

Getting ready to go!

He loves his backpack and held it in his lap the whole way there!

SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This past weekend was a huge success for those of you who knew what I was planning. Thursday is Jarrod's big 4-0 Birthday!! So of course, you know me...I have to go all out, I can't help it, it's in my blood!

The past month I have been planning what turned out to be a spectacular weekend! Friday afternoon I had Jarrod meet me at the house at 12:30pm. He thought he was coming home to keep Bo so I could go to the doctor. He also thought his sister Kim and her family were coming in for the weekend. When he got home Bo handed him an envelope with this in it...

He did really good in not asking too many questions and just went with the flow! We had about a 2 hour drive up to Blue Ridge, Ga where I had rented a cabin for the weekend. I had never been to the north Georgia mountains, and all I can say is you MUST go. It's so beautiful and relaxing! However if you are afraid of heights...have someone else drive and wear a blindfold! The road was barely wide enough for one car and there were some STEEP hills!! But...once you got to the top it was amazing!

For as long as I have known Jarrod he has talked about how he loves fly fishing. He's been wanting to get back into it, but just hasn't. I thought it would be fun to set him up on a trip with a guide. So Saturday morning Jarrod headed out shortly after 7:00am and spent 4 hours with a fantastic guide named Kent, Jarrod said he was awesome and definitely wants to go back again with him. While daddy was fishing I had arranged for our good friends...Tim & Susan, Keith & Melanie, Kate & Scott, and Tabby & Adam to meet me at the cabin to surprise him. They came from Birmingham, Chattanooga, and Charlotte, NC. When he got back he was shocked!!!

We spent the day eating lots of food, watching football, and spending time with our good friends. That evening we took advantage of the outdoor fire pit and roasted marshmallows and made S'mores with the kids. After they went to bed the adults watched more football, sat outside around the fire, and had the time of our lives. It was so memorable! It was also a great balance of time with friends and time as a family. Our friends only stayed Saturday night so we had all day Sunday and Sunday night just the 3 of us. Bo had a BLAST, he would have slept outside if we had let him, he loved it!

I can assure you that we WILL be going back, we've already made that decision. If you ever want to go let me know because I have the name of a great rental company and fly fishing guide! Thank you so much to our friends and family who helped me pull this off, I couldn't have done it with out you!

Crazy for the Choo Choo

So last Friday Bo and I met Kathy and the boys and their sister Liliana up at the mall for our usual playdate. This time before letting them play we were sitting and talking while they all sat in their strollers. Every day at 11:00 the train comes to take kids for a ride. As soon as Bo heard it I thought he was going to come out of the stroller. He was going crazy to get to the train! Wow, they don't forget do they? One ride the week before and I now have a monster on my hands.

Considering it's $3.00 per person to ride the train and that includes moms and dads even if their children are too young to ride alone...isn't that terrible! So...with that said I knew Kathy was going to ride with the boys and I literally had $3.00 cash with me, because I never carry cash, so I let Bo ride with them. He was so excited, just hopped right on, so grown up like! It wasn't until he saw me waving when they came around the first time that he got upset. Kathy put him in her lap and I waited in one of the stores and he did great! All by himself!!! P.S.-can you tell he's teething? Fingers in the mouth in every picture poor guy!

Waiting for his "ticket"

Noah with his ticket!

A little under the weather...

Guess this must be the time for colds...
