Forever Young

Forever Young

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young.

-Bob Dylan

Never in a million years would I think that Bob Dylan would have inspirational words for my child, but guess what…he does!  If any of you have ever watch Parenthood (the tv show on Tuesday nights…my new favorite tv show) then you’ve heard this as their theme song or if you are a Dylan fan then you heard it back in 1974 when it came out.  I’ve always loved Bob Dylan’s music and fell in love with this song.  This is truly a message I want Bo to learn as he grows up.  If you have the sound on your computer then you are probably listening to this right now, if you want to start it over just hit the refresh button at the top of your page!  Enjoy!

Weekend Fun!

This past weekend we had so much fun with Bo.  We were busy too, but it was all fun.  Saturday we woke up and took him to a family festival in downtown Suwanee.  They had tons of blow up jumpy things, luckily they separated them based on age.  When Bo first saw them he was so excited, he took off running to them…then after experiencing one of the larger ones he was all done.  They had one you climbed up one side and then would slide down the other.  He loved the climbing part, it was the getting down he was a little unsure of.  We had to have a little girl push him down for us.  He went back for more, but after the second time if you asked if he wanted to go again he gave a quick “no, no, no”!  He didn’t want on any of them after that.  The one thing I loved about the festival is that we ran into people we knew…a few different couples, that’s how I know we’ve lived here long enough and can call it home, when you start running into people you know!

Sunday afternoon we thought it would be a fun treat to take him for ice cream, he’s 2 and we’ve never done this!  It was such a beautiful day and perfect for getting ice cream!

After ice cream we headed home where we played outside and discovered some caterpillars.  It’s so funny to me that he’ll be happy to put his hand up to a donkey’s mouth to feed them crackers, but doesn’t care too much for touching a caterpillar???  Anyway, his new favorite game is to kicked the ball down the hill to daddy, have daddy do a “big” kick then run back up the hill after the ball and kick it back down.  This is a great way to wear him out all that running up and down the hill…great for getting ready for bedtime!  I truly think this little guy will be a fabulous soccer player.  Our neighbor who has two teenage boys said we MUST get him enrolled in soccer asap!  IMG_5067    IMG_5070

Waiting on CPS!!

So I’m just waiting on Child Protective Services to come knocking on our front door.  Saturday we cleaned out our entire garage, literally pulled EVERYTHING out, sorted, and put things back organized, nice, and neat.  We had out sitter come over to play with Bo so we could actually get things done.  They were outside with us and as he was walking into the garage he tripped on his shoes and fell face forward into the driveway.  He also scraped up his knee pretty bad.  We came inside to clean him up and I’m not kidding when I say less than 3 minutes he was begging to go back outside, the big scraped up knot on his head, hadn’t even phased him.  He actually threw quite a tantrum to go back out, but I wanted to keep an eye on his bump for a little bit.  I could tell it wasn’t as bad as the one we had 3 weeks ago, but to be on the safe side I called Children’s Healthcare, the same place we took him last time.  I spoke with a nurse, who after pulling his chart, was kind enough to mention that we had just been there for the same thing…yes, I know thank you VERY much for your demeaning, judgmental sarcasm, can you please just tell me if my child is okay??  I was so embarrassed, literally the same exact thing a fall with a knot on the head.  I think I’ve decided to start putting him in a helmet!  Anyway, we got an all clear from the nurse nazi and just kept a close eye on him, we knew the drill…watch for loss of balance/coordination, wake while sleeping, call if excessively cranky, which by the way at what point do you call for excessive crankiness because he is TWO, they may want to rethink that warning sign.  Later that day he was back in full force…he doesn’t miss a beat!

Spring Break!!

So who knew that Mother’s Mornings Out would have Spring Break?  Well they do…can’t really blame them though if I were with all of those kids every day I’d be looking for an excuse for a break too!  Anywho…What to do with an active two year old who is with mommy ALL week??  That was the million dollar question.  Luckily we had fantastic weather and lots of friends who were on spring break as well.  We planted some special flowers for Bo, fed a donkey or two, and played in a space shuttle!

The Easter bunny was kind enough to bring Bo some gardening tools and a watering can, he always wants mama’s so I guess the Easter bunny thought he deserved his own. We started off the week planting a flower for Bo to take care of.  First we painted a clay pot and once it dried we planted a little plant just for him.  It’s on our upper deck so we go out in the afternoons and water it.

Wednesday my aunt Amy and cousin Beth, who were also on spring break, decided to take our little cousin Parker for the day and go to the Children’s Museum.  We love it there so we quickly hopped on board when they invited us.  Parker and Bo loved it and loved spending time together.  Later on Friday we joined Parker again to go to the Yellow River Game Ranch click here if you want to learn about it.  It was SO much fun.  At first I wasn’t sure what Bo would think, since he wasn’t too keen on the petting zoo at the Atlanta Zoo, but I figured it was worth a shot.  Turns out he LOVED it! When you go in you can buy bags of corn, peanuts, packages of crackers, carrots, apples, etc… to feed the animals.  We stocked up on a few things then took off down the path.  It is basically a small path, about a mile long, with just a small rope on either side of the path to keep kids on it, and the animals are walking around everywhere (most of them).  You’d be walking and a deer would just walk across right in front of you.  Bo loved the chickens, roosters, and ducks that were walking around.  Even the squirrels come up to you, sit on their back legs waiting for something.  We’d give them peanuts and they’d run off the path and bury it.  Who knows how many stashes are out there.  It made me think this must be what it would be like to live in a fairytale like Snow White!   We will definitely be going back and taking daddy with us.  Oh and if you come to Atlanta…this runs circles around the zoo and it’s cheaper!

Other than that we just spent time playing outside in the beautiful weather, a few trips to the park, and a little shopping for new clothes for Bo since he’s outgrown everything and needs an entire new summer wardrobe!  I had a wonderful week with my little man…made me realize how blessed I am to be able to stay home with him.

Been Busy

So the past few weeks things have so busy it seems like.  We had a wonderful Easter weekend, which we kicked off on Friday by taking Bo to the zoo.  He had so much fun and loved seeing the animals.  Every time we’d start walking up to a new animal he’d say “wooowwww” not even knowing what was coming up, but he knew it was something.  He had a great time making all the animal noises when he saw them.  I finally gave in and did the one thing I said I’d never do (okay so I actually have a list of things, but this one was one I never thought I’d do)…I put him on a leash!  Oh what a hypocrite I became…all I’m going to say is NEVER say never and for those of you who don’t have kids yet…well, you just wait ;)!  It was more of a backpack with a rope, regardless it was something to hang on to him with.  I’m so glad we did it, the zoo was packed the day we went…lots of field trips!  This way he was able to walk around and really see.  It lasted up to the very end of the visit, when he decided to throw a tantrum, fell on the ground kicking and screaming and broke the strap!  I literally had a man walk up, pull out his zoo map and say “Now what animal is this?”  Like most two year olds there just isn’t a lot you can do when they became completely irrational, so I just stood there and told him to let me know when he was done.  Oh the joys of having a two year old.

Saturday before Easter we took Bo to an Easter Egg hunt at our neighbors church.  He had a blast hunting for eggs, but like before he knew there was candy in them so it was more of find the egg, look at the treat, and throw the egg away.  After that we came home and dyed Easter eggs which was also a lot of fun.  He had more fun throwing (literally) the eggs into the colored cups and watching it splash.  Once we were done he looked a lot like the Incredible Hulk.  Easter morning we woke up, went to the early service at church and came home to eat Easter dinner that I had made.  Later that night we went to my Aunt Amy’s house and had our second Easter dinner of the day!  LOTS of good food!  We had a wonderful weekend and loved spending all of it with daddy!

Easter Party

Yesterday Bo’s class had their Easter party.  It was so much fun getting to meet some other moms and watch Bo in his class.  At first they stuck to their regular routine so we could see some of the things they do.  They had circle time where Ms. Lynette went over the color green, the number 2, circles, and the letter B.  They then read two quick books and sang songs.  Afterwards we helped them with their crafts and had snack time.  After that we headed outside for an Easter egg hunt.  Ten 2 yr olds running wild, not even knowing what they were supposed to be doing was hysterical!  Bo finally caught on once he realized there were treats in the eggs.  He then would open them, take the treat, and toss the egg!  And of course as we were trying to get a class picture Bo decided it would be fun to run clear across the church campus.  His teacher then said… “that is definitely our all boy, boy…he’ll grow up to be a construction worker, linebacker, something manly” she knows him well!  He was more interested in playing in the dirt and with the sticks than he was looking for eggs!  It was a great time and to be honest I was a little surprised at how well behaved he was…following instructions, waiting…should I dare say it…patiently, and doing as he was told!  You’ve just gotta love the little guy!
