Family Pizza Night

Normally Friday nights are our “family pizza night”.  We kind of started a tradition of pizza and movies. This Friday I went out with some of my girlfriends for a night out!  Which meant Saturday night turned into our pizza night.  Bo has really developed a love to help mommy “cook”…I LOVE this!  Anytime I am in the kitchen making dinner or any other time he comes in saying “cook” and looking to see what I’m doing.    We are to the point now where we are going to have to get him a good step stool to pull up because he usually ends up sitting on the counter to help and he’s getting way to big for that!  Here he is helping out! Jarrod had just come in from the rain if you’re wondering.

Father’s Day

We had so much fun this weekend celebrating Father’s Day!  We started off the weekend by taking Bo to see Toy Story 3 on Saturday morning.  Once again he did fabulous in the theater!  He sat through the entire movie!  It was a great movie if anyone hasn’t seen it.  Then Saturday night Jarrod and I had a much needed date night.  We had a wonderful dinner at an Italian restaurant in downtown Lawrenceville and then went for coffee afterwards.  It was so nice being able to eat in an “adult” restaurant without having to shovel our food down in 5 minutes or less!  Sunday Jarrod’s parents joined us for Father’s Day.  We had a great afternoon spending time with them and enjoying a really yummy cookout Sunday night.  I hope Jarrod had a great weekend.  He is such an amazing husband and daddy, we are so blessed to have him.  We love you honey!

Bo & James

We also had fun having James over for a play date one morning.  His mommy wasn’t feeling well so I told her to drop James off while her other 2 were at Vacation Bible School so she could have the morning to rest.  It was a beautiful day so we pulled out the water table, buckets, and popsicles!  The boys had a blast!

On Tuesday morning Bo also went to his very first movie! Our movie theater here does free family movies on Tuesday/Wednesday mornings at 10:00am during the movie.  I figured it was free so if it was a flop we wouldn’t be out any money.  Like swim lessons I had NO idea what to expect.  We met James and Janice there and watched “Tale of Despereaux”.  Bo LOVED it!!!!!  He sat in his own seat for almost the entire movie!  He even had his own little bag of popcorn which we shared.  It was so much fun!  He was glued to the screen.  After about 45 minutes into the movie most of the kids were going stir crazy, even the older ones, not Bo…he was still eating his popcorn and watching the movie.  James decided he was done with the movie so Janice decided to take him and leave.  After about 5 minutes of them being gone Bo realized his buddy was gone and wanted to go look for him so that’s why we left.  I forgot my camera, but Janice took a few so I’ll post those when I get them from her.  We will definitely be doing that again!

This week

We’ve had a busy first week of summer!  We started swim lessons Monday night.  Bo loves it!  I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but this little guy is fearless and loves the pool.  Which means…no turning your back for a second with him!  His favorite part…jumping, jumping, jumping!  We go every night Mon-Thurs and will do the same next week.  He’s learning to kick, reach with his arms, blow bubbles, put his face in the water, and float on his back (which he hates).  The best way to describe classes with Bo is like trying to wrestle a mexican jumping bean and keep it from drowning!  He obviously has no idea that he can’t stand up or swim so all he tries to do is get away from you.  The other night Jarrod came and did a class with him so I was able to get a few pictures.

A little freaky!

Okay so while I was home I decided to rummage through some old family albums.  My main mission was to find a baby picture of my dad because there are a few of him and myself and everyone says we could be twins.  Everyone also say that Bo and I could be twins, so here we go…what are your thoughts? I’m sorry it’s so hard to see I had to take a picture of a picture.

What’s even more weird and quite frankly a little freaky/scary is a picture we found in an old family album.  I have been tracing our family history on Ancestry.com which I have really found fascinating.  I knew that my parents had a “Davis Family” album that dates way, way back.  So while I was home I wanted to look at some of the pictures because I knew a few had names and it would be neat to put a face with a name.  Plus I know how strong the “Davis” gene is…there is a picture of a man way over 100 years old that looks just like my dad and I…it’s always the eyes, nose, mouth part of the face that sticks out.  Well we came across the picture below and I truly thought I was looking at Bo 100 years ago… IMG_5148 IMG_5338No one knows who he is, how old he was, or anything…wish we did.

I wish I could have found a better picture of Bo to compare it to because this is definitely an expression he makes, however if there’s a camera around he’s going to smile so I couldn’t find any of him  not smiling.  The eyes, mouth, hair line, everything.  Even Jarrod was a little spooked out by this.  We’ve had this album forever and I never would have imagined I’d find a picture that looks just like my son.

Going to have NIECE!!!!

I wanted to say a BIG CONGRATS to my brother and his wife, Emily.  They are going to be having a little girl, due November 3rd!  I am so, so excited to become an aunt and more importantly have a beautiful little niece to spoil rotten!!!!!  I love looking at all of the little girl things, since my world is filled with all blue!  After having 2 1/2 years of Bo being spoiled, by some of the LOUDEST toys ever, I can wait to return the favor :)  We are all so, so excited about our sweet little angel coming!

My very first home!

While I was visiting MS, dad and I took a drive past our old house.  It’s funny I only lived in this house until I was 9 years old, but there’s something about it that feels so much like home.  I think it’s that innocence of childhood feeling…no worries, no stress, no peer pressure, it was strictly just being a kid.  Memories of playing outside in the backyard that at the time seemed absolutely huge, but I now realize is much, much smaller!  Using an old dog house as my “kitchen” where I’d “cook”, playing in the ditch behind our house and catching minnows hoping to watch them grow into frogs when in reality we just killed them.  Catching lightning bugs, playing soccer in the front yard, skating on the front porch, again that seemed so much larger than it was, hitting tennis balls up against the garage door, which dad told me a thousand times not to do, but I did it anyway!  The green and yellow shag carpet!  My bedroom complete with a chalkboard where I would play school.  Christmas mornings with my parents trying to convince me that there were “sleigh tracks” in our front yard.  Many, many ballet performances with my friend down the street.  The neighbors who have now passed away.  It’s funny there have been many nights I’ve had dreams about going back through the house.  I’d give anything to knock on the door, introduce myself and see if they’d let me walk through.  I did walk back to the backyard.  The house next to ours is up for sale so I just pretended to be looking at that house while I looked over at the fence into the backyard.  It was neat and sad all at the same time.  I know the people who have lived there since have many many changes to the inside, I could tell that by trying to get a glimpse through a window (good thing no one was home)!  The outside used to be blue and is now beige.  It’s funny to hear my parents talk about how small it was, because that’s not how I remember it at all. Funny how things change as you get older.

A week in MS

Bo and I made it back from MS last Thursday, we had such a wonderful trip!  We hated to leave.  It’s always so good to go home…time with family, just the feeling of being “home”, mom there to cook dinner, she even did some of our laundry!!  Bo had SO much fun with Pop and Bebe…he definitely knows who they are and loves them oh so very much.  He’d wake up in the mornings and point saying “Pop, Bebe”  He’s really grown and is talking much more than the last time they saw him so it was a lot of fun for them to spend time together.

While we were there Bo got sick and after two trips to the doctor we learned he had hand, foot, and mouth.  It’s a very common thing that almost all children get at some point.  He was covered in a horrible rash, it was on/in his mouth and really bad on his little feet.  It absolutely broke my heart because nothing really helped.  I was up one night until 3:30 just scratching his feet for him while he tried to go back to sleep.  Because he got sick we had to miss out on seeing a lot of our friends.  The positive is that we were both forced to stay home and rest which is never a bad thing in my book!

The trip was great, the drive wasn’t bad either.  It was my first time to drive a 7hr trip alone with a toddler.  I must say that Bo did fabulous!!!!  Thanks mom and dad for a wonderful trip, we’ll see you again soon!
