Gwinnett Braves

Saturday night we decided to take Bo up to the Minor League Gwinnett Braves game.  Turns out our friends Janice and Jason decided to bring their kids up there too.  We had a great time, despite getting rained on the first 15 minutes or so.  We sat out in the outfield where you can bring blankets and of course right next to concessions!  You can’t go to a baseball game and not eat hotdogs and lemonade so I had to give in and let Bo have his first hotdog…a real hotdog with a bun.  Until now he’s only had turkey dogs, not quite the same.  Of course Bo also saw wide open spaces where he could run and run and run and run…we chased him all night long.  Janice and I laughed and said we’d definitely have to do it again…when they are 12!  It was fun and now we can say we did it!

Class Pictures

I just had to post these because they were too cute!  Yesterday at MOPS we were given their class picture.  As Jarrod was looking at it last night he turned to me and said “Did you notice Bo is the only one smiling in this picture?”  Sure enough he was right!  I hadn’t even noticed that, but today when I was given his Mother’s Morning Out class picture I made sure to look and sure enough, there was our little camera ham!  You can definitely tell this guy has had his picture taken a few times!

Getting read for summer!

summer 2

I can’t believe we are already at the end of May…where did the time go?  I think we’ve finally gotten our summer plans nailed down.  Bo’s last day of school will be next Wednesday.  I really wanted to schedule a trip for Bo and I to go to MS since I haven’t been home since Thanksgiving.  We will be leaving next Thursday to spend some time with friends and family, I am so excited!  We will be gone about a week and will come home in time to spend Memorial Day weekend with daddy!  Our good friend, Greg, is coming down for a visit.  He is about to become a daddy in a few months so I think he wanted one last guy weekend before daddy duty kicks in!

Right after Memorial Day Bo will start swimming lessons, should be interesting!  We’ll go every evening at 5:30pm for two weeks straight.  Then we will head straight into SonShine Camp at North Metro, same church Bo goes to school.  He will go every Tuesday and Wednesday for 5 weeks from 9am-1pm!  They have so many fun things planned they have water day, snow cone day, etc… I know he’ll love it!  We will also continue speech therapy on Thursday mornings.  Once camp is over Bo will be going to spend a week with my parents in MS.  Ever since I found out I was pregnant my mom always said “when he gets old enough can he come spend a week in the summer?”  You don’t have to ask me twice.  I quickly decided that this summer he is old enough!!!!!  So Jarrod will be taking some time off of work and we’ll have time to do whatever we want!!!  Not sure if we are going to go anywhere, but I’m happy staying home and going to the pool with a good book!  I also have some projects I’ll be working on during the summer, mostly things around the house.  The biggest project of them all will be the attempt of potty training.  I’m pretty sure we won’t attempt this until late summer, maybe that will be a good thing for him to do while spending the week with my parents…sounds good to me!   Hopefully it will be a fun summer for everyone.  Come fall our schedules get will be getting crazy busy so I’m hoping to enjoy and relax over the summer!

Mother’s Day

I had the best Mother’s Day weekend ever!!!  It all started Friday afternoon with beautiful flowers from Jarrod and the best news he had was that he wasn’t going to be working at all over the weekend!  Saturday Jarrod took Bo to have some daddy-son time and to give mommy a break.  It was great!  Later that afternoon we spent the day outside playing and running a few errands.  Sunday we got up and went to the early service at church then came home, made a pot of coffee, and read the paper out on the back deck while Bo played in his sandbox.  Sunday afternoon we went to the park, enjoyed an early dinner and topped it all off with a trip to get ice cream, this was daddy’s plan, but he didn’t have to fight me too much on it.  We didn’t do anything elaborate, but to me it was the perfect weekend.  I don’t need much, just time with my two boys!

Thank you so much to all of my friends and family for all of the sweet cards, gifts, and phone calls.  It truly made the day so special!

Before heading to the park we went to Old Town Suwanee where they have an old caboose, Bo had a blast playing on it.

No denying him!

One night last week I came across this picture as I was cleaning out a box of things.  I’m not sure exactly how old I was, but I know I was younger than two.  As soon as I saw it I felt like I was looking at Bo.  This boy is 100% Davis, but don’t tell daddy he isn’t as excited about it as I am.  I’m making a trip home to MS soon so I will be digging for one of my dad’s old pictures, because my toddler pictures look identical to his so it will be interesting to see 3 generations.  What do you think?

Pajama Program

clip_image002

So I have recently gotten involved with the Pajama Program here in Atlanta.  I first learned about this organization in Austin from a friend of mine.  When I heard what they did I absolutely fell in love!  The Pajama Program basically collects new, unused children’s pajamas and books and delivers them to different shelters across the area.  Many states have their own chapter that will focus on the shelters in that area.  I’ll be honest…until I met my friend Susan, I had never really thought about the children in homeless shelters, foster care, emergency shelters because their mother is trying to run from a bad situation, or even children whose parents have gone to jail and are waiting to be placed with another family.  These situations never crossed my mind.  If you know me at all, then you probably know that my heart belongs to groups like this.  I can remember saying if I could be a stay at home mom and volunteer then I’d have the best job in the entire world.  The past few months the Pajama Program has really been on my mind, for some reason I have no idea why, so I decided to look into it and see if they needed help.  When I spoke with the chapter president she told me she has really been the only person doing it for the past five years.  Volunteers are hard to come by in any non profit, so she has basically been doing what she could on her own.  She also works full time and has two children!  After talking for a little I let her know my background…event planning and also non profit.  I think she got a little excited :)  She said she had always dreamed of doing fundraisers, but just hadn’t had the time or help that she needed.  Since we are headed into summer donations usually slow down, but I’m hoping this summer I can make some contacts and hopefully get the ball rolling in the fall.  I’m a pajama girl…when I worked I would come home and change straight into my pajamas.  To me there is nothing better than a new pair of pajamas, it’s such a treat!  Please check out the website www.pajamaprogram.org if you can.  Also, if you want to read about how this all came to be click HERE it’s such a touching story!

Day Out With Thomas

This weekend we had a wonderful time staying with our good friends Tim and Susan and their three daughters up in Chattanooga.  A few months ago I saw that Thomas was going to be visiting Chattanooga and I knew Bo would have a blast.  We went about 9 months ago here in Ga, but Bo was getting sick at the time, we didn’t know it, but I knew he didn’t enjoy it as much as he could have.

As soon as we saw the trains, Bo started shouting “Choo Choo, Choo Choo…”.  He is absolutely fascinated with trains…all trains, not just Thomas.  So we took a ride on Thomas, watched a short Thomas movie, played with Thomas trains, got a Thomas tattoo, jumped in a Thomas jump castle, you get the point!  I was so sick of trains by Saturday afternoon!  I bet you can guess what Bo watched the entire 2 hour trip home today…you got it…Thomas!!!

We were also able to spend time with our good friends and their little girls.  Bo wasn’t exactly sure what to think about all the princesses, dolls, castles, baby carriages, dress up, etc… but he made the best of it and played right along with them.  He particularly loved Baby Samantha, she’s 10 months old and the sweetest baby ever!  Hope you enjoy the pictures!
