Elmo & Superman

We had such a great time this year for Halloween.  We had two classics…an Elmo and Superman!  They both were as precious as could be.  It was even  more fun for me because I made Charlotte’s costume, which was a lot of fun and it was a hit!  Last night we went to the preschool for Trunk or Treat and people we didn’t even know were stopping us to take Charlotte’s picture because they thought she was so cute!!  The kids had a blast.  We met some good friends and their little boy Aiden, who is also one of Bo’s best friends…these two love each other and had a BLAST!!!!  It’s so fun to see him really get into things especially when he’s with a friend.  And boy were they on a mission..there was no doubt why they were there..CANDY!!!!!!!!!!  Charlotte and I went a little slower, she would wave every time she went up to a car and as they handed her candy she’d say “ta tu”, gotta say it was pretty darn adorable!  Afterwards the boys went to the bounce houses and went crazy.  We wrapped things up there and then came back to the neighborhood where we all hit up the neighbors houses.  Again, boys were in full candy mode!  Charlotte loved it and tried keeping up with the older boys.  She walked the entire way!!!  There was no stopping this girl!  Later we all got home and the kids curled up with daddy to eat some candy and watch Charlie Brown.  We couldn’t have had a better night!

Fall 2012

Wow…July…that was my last post!  There is no excuse and I’m so mad at myself because I want to use this blog to keep track of everything going on in our lives.  Needless to say life has been a little crazy the past few months.  Not to mention that the entire month of Sept and most of October someone, if not everyone at once, has been sick in our house.  And lucky us it always hit on the weekends.  Which sort of leads into this post. This past Saturday was declared  “family day…meaning just out little family of four”!  We had not had a fun, family weekend since honestly I don’t know when.  With only one weekend left in October I really wanted us to get to a pumpkin patch before the month was over.  We got up yesterday morning and headed to Jaemor Farms here in Georgia.  It’s only about 30 minutes from our house. It is the best place ever.  It was our first time to go, but it was highly recommended by a good friend of mine so we decided to check it out.

We got there right at 10am when they opened, which was perfect because there weren’t many people, which meant not a lot of lines!  Bo saw the pumpkin train and headed straight to it…no surprise there!  I’m not sure if he was more impressed by the tractor pulling it or the actual train but he loved it.  Next he darted off to the apple cannon where he and daddy aimed at targets on an old school bus, he did pretty good I must say!  Then it was off to a big slide, watching them setting up the petting zoo, then into the corn maze!  Whew…the corn maze…very long, very confusing, but fun!!  We decided to let Bo lead us through so wherever he wanted to go we’d go.  At one point Jarrod and I thought we should go right and Bo wanted to go left so we decided to go mommy and daddy’s way and guess who ended up at a dead end!  Bo quickly said “See...you’re not listening to my directions.” It was priceless!

After the corn maze we headed to a hayride, last but not least a pony ride, and then finally some yummy bbq lunch!!!  Jaemor Farms also has a wonderful farmer’s market with a huge variety of fruits and vegetables and homemade goodies…oh my stars!!!  After lunch we knew we had to try the homemade strawberry ice cream, which was just amazing, and also a fried apple pie!  Diet went right out the window, but how often do we do these things??  Oh and on the way out we bought boiled peanuts and Jarrod had to have a loaf of the homemade cinnamon pecan bread OH MY STARS!!!!!!!!  That alone was worth the 30 minute drive!!!!!!! It was a great day that we desperately needed!!!  On another note…can you believe our baby girl is now 17 months?  Where is the time going??

On a completely different note…Charlotte HAS to keep up with the boys.  Saturday night we were at my uncle’s visiting with family and Charlotte saw the boys on the scooter…sure enough guess what she HAD to do!  She loved it!!  She is definitely going to be our dare devil…people were pushing her around on it and the faster they went the louder she squealed…Lord help us! Summer in Mississippi

I’m going to try my best to get this written while the kids play, but just in the time it has taken to get the pictures off my camera I’ve had to get Charlotte off the stairs twice, put up the gate that she knocked down, get her out from playing in the toilet, and rescue toys from the kitchen garbage can that she put in there.  This girl is a MESS I tell you…a TOTAL mess, but that’s a whole other post!!!

So the kids and I were in MS for a visit.  I must say that the drives over and back weren’t that bad. They were hard on me just because of little things like you can’t get out and just stretch your legs because you have two kids to get out too, any time both kids would fall asleep it never failed I always had to use the restroom, but no way was I stopping and waking them up.  So just little things like that.  But the kids did great!

We have turned Charlotte forward facing which makes her a much happier baby!  She was able to watch hours of Elmo (her favorite thing in the entire world).  For Bo I made him an activity book with color pages, letter tracing page, and blank paper to color on.  I put it all in a binder because it’s just easier to turn pages in a binder than in one of those big coloring books.  Filled a pencil bags with stickers and crayons.  I kid you not this kept him busy for hours!!!!!  I never dreamed it would be such a hit!  A few days before our trip I went to the dollar store and got about 10 different toys that I then wrapped in tissue paper (this took all of 5 minutes) then along the trip if he was being good he’d get a prize to unwrap…seriously this was my lifesaver because there were a few times I had to use that to get him to do stuff like get back in the car after lunch at Chick fil A, etc… I see us using this a lot as the kids get older!!!

I must say that the weather did not exactly cooperate for our trip.  It rained and rained and rained the entire time we were in MS.  It finally got to the point that if it wasn’t lightening or thundering we sent Bo outside to play in the rain.  These kids can only stay inside for so long!!!  He had a blast.  I ended up buying him a kids umbrella which he was ecstatic about.  My poor mom was even out there with them in the rain.  They loved it!!!!  We would pull the baby pool out and let them play in it while they rained, something fun and different for them!  If it wasn’t raining it was horribly humid.  You have never experienced humidity until you’ve experienced a MS summer…Lord knows I don’t miss that at ALL!!!!!

The other highlight from our trip was the chance to go back through my childhood house.  I lived in this house until I was 9 years old, but I still consider it the house I grew up in.  A good friend of ours, again from childhood is now a realtor and she offered to take us through it since it’s now on the market.  They made so many changes, however there were many things that were familiar especially to my dad…a lot of the repairs he made while we lived there were still there.  Shelves he built, an old shed he kept things in out back, etc…  It was really neat, but my favorite part was being able to have my picture taken with my kids on the front porch, I can still see a picture of my mom with my brother and I on the same porch!!  I never would have thought that would have ever been possible, I am so thankful for my friend Mary.

We also go to spend some time with Barney, Emily, and Vivie.  I hadn’t seen Vivie since Christmas…she is such a little girl now!!!  The kids had a blast playing together. She and Bo especially hit it off.  Made me wish we were closer and the kids could actually grow up together, maybe one day!

We had a great time.  Bo said over and over and over again that he didn’t want to leave and that he wanted to stay at Pop and Bebe’s forever!  He didn’t even want to come home to see daddy and let me tell you that is huge!!!!  He loves them so much!!!  Here are some pictures! oh and if you’re wondering…right now one child is playing video games and the other is watching an Elmo dvd…only way I can get things done these days!
