Bo turns 5!

Well a little over a week ago Bo turned 5!!!  I still have a hard time saying that he’s 5. 5 is a BIG year…it marks the beginning of kindergarten in the fall, no more preschool, no more church setting school lessons, the opportunity to ride the school bus…eeek!!! Bo still asks every day if he’s big enough to ride the school bus, not sure how I’ll handle that when the time comes. We are starting a whole new phase of his little life, very bittersweet.
On his actual birthday we were in Greenville with Jarrod’s family.  Bo loved waking up on his birthday at Lily and Josie’s house!!  He absolutely adores his cousins so this was perfect!  Aunt Kim had mini sweet rolls, which was definitely a treat for us.  Then he opened presents!!  We had already given him his present the Saturday before..he got a big boy bike!  He loves it!  Since he got that before his birthday we had to have something else for him to open so after a long search for the bike (long story) we made another trip back to toys r us to get him a “real” Star Wars Light Saber, yep he thinks it’s real!  He also got a Star Wars action figure.  He’s really getting into Star Wars, which daddy loves…mom, well I’m just glad God gave me a girl :)
We all came back home that afternoon where we had a surprise waiting for him.  My sweet friend Jasmin helped me get balloons for the mailbox.  What she didn’t tell me is that they also made Bo a Happy Birthday Banner for the yard!  We absolutely, positively have the most amazing friends!  Everyone has been so wonderful offering to help us out, help with kids, etc… with all that we’ve had going on with Jarrod’s dad. Jarrod has spent most of the past 3 weeks in Greenville and our friends have made that much easier on us.  A huge thank you to everyone!!!  Unfortunately it was super windy here on his birthday so the big 5 balloon popped and the sign split in two, but he still loved it!!  He felt so special which is exactly what we wanted!  We also made homemade pizzas that night, his of course being an angry bird and we had a small cake to celebrate.  He had a great day…lots of fun!

Birds the word!!

I have been horrible, horrible about putting up posts.  With facebook and text messages I hardly ever take pictures off my camera anymore.  Anyone you want to show pics you can just send them at the exact moment, even Bo will ask me to take a picture and send it to one of his friend’s moms haha!  So I apologize!  However, when it comes to posting lots of pictures this is still the easiest way to get them out to everyone.
Anyway, he wanted an Angry Birds party, his latest obsession.  I’ll be honest, I’d be a-ok if I never saw another angry bird for a very long time, but…he loves them so we just go with it.  He also wanted a bowling party.  I researched a little bit and found a great bowling alley not too far from us.  Before I agreed to it, I made a visit to see what it was like.  From my experience bowling alleys aren’t exactly the nicest, cleanest places!!  I was pleasantly surprised..very clean, kid friendly, all of the staff were fantastic and to top it off their party prices were great…if you haven’t thrown a kids birthday party lately you would be SHOCKED at what these things can cost and let’s face it…I don’t do little parties!!  Parties are my thing and Jarrod has just learned to let me do it.  I will say I didn’t do that much for this one at all.  It was fun the kids had a blast…they got to bowl for an hour, eat pizza and cake and then each got 8 tokens to go play games if they wanted afterwards.  Happy Birthday to our sweet, precious, full of life and love little boy!  We love you more than you will ever know!

I made the plates by printing off the Angry Bird and Pig faces and gluing them on to plain paper plates.
When it was time to eat we put the food on clear plastic plates on top so the birds
would still show through, but the wouldn’t be eating on glue and cardstock :)

I made the goody bags the same way I did the plates (lots of cutting and gluing for this party!
And yes, each child was sent home with
their very own slingshot…so far I still have all my friends!
