4 months old!

IMG_7001

Baby girl turned 4 months this past week!  I can’t believe how big she’s getting!!!  Here are her stats…

Weight: 13.10 lbs, 50th%

Height: 25 1/2  75%

So I had to go back and see where she is compared to Bo at this age and believe it or not she’s at the exact same height!!!  Guess I’m going to have another tall kiddo!  He was exactly 2 lbs heavier at 15.10 haha!

The pediatrician said she was perfect!  Of course, did we ever have to question that??  They went ahead and did the blood work for the allergy testing and I found out today that it came back abnormal.  I haven’t talked to the allergist yet, but just from talking with the pediatrician she thinks there is a slight allergy that hopefully she’ll grow out of by a year.  This past weekend we’ve been battling a horrible stomach virus.  She started running fever on Friday at 103.8 and has had horrible, horrible diarrhea so we spent the weekend giving lots of TLC!!  The fever is gone today, but she’s still having tummy issues.

A few of her new things include..

  • playing with her hands and feet!  For some reason this has always been one of my favorite things.  I love to just sit and watch her try to figure them out.  She’ll just stare at her hands forever.
  • She loves her “lovey” or as Bo calls it a “night night”.  My friend Janice gave her a pink elephant lovey when she was born and we have started giving it to her.  She loves to hold things, she’s been this way since birth always holding our fingers.  She got to wear she was wanting something to do with her hands when we’d put her down to bed and scratching her face was just not an option.  So we give it to her and let her fall asleep with it, but take it out of her crib once she’s asleep, we did the same thing with Bo!  Funny, just like Bo she wants to snuggle up to it with her face.  He STILL does this with his!
  • She hates her car seat…hates it. She’s fine once she gets in it and we get moving, but there’s no just hanging out in the car seat.
  • Coos and squeals all the time!
  • She’s rolling!!  She went from back to tummy an entire month before big brother did!  I wish I could tell you I sat and watched the entire thing take place, but I didn’t.  I had put her down on her playmat while I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and I looked up to see she had rolled over all on her own!  What’s odd is the easiest roll is from tummy to back and she still hasn’t figured that out!

Life is great with this li’l peanut and it’s even more fun to see Bo grow into the big brother role.  He loves her so much and is always making sure she’s okay.  Especially if someone comes up to her, you better believe he’s right there with his hand on her standing guard!

I realize this picture doesn’t exactly fit in a “Charlotte” post, but it was too cute not to put on here.  This was Sunday morning…Bo wanted to be like daddy so he got his “newspaper” aka the Toys R Us add and climbed up in daddy’s lap!  Don’t you love Jarrod’s pajama pants haha!

Jarrod turns…

Well we’ll just say he’s 40-something :)   Last Saturday was Jarrod’s birthday and the one thing I wanted to accomplish was for him to have a quiet, relaxing day to do whatever he wanted!!!  He started off the morning with a surprise appointment I had made for a hot shave and a haircut.  He loves going to enjoy times like this but let’s face it with work, kids, taking care of the house, and everything else he has going on he never gets any “me time”.  So the kids and I headed off to cousin Parker’s birthday party.  Later that afternoon we went back of to my aunt and uncle’s house who have an awesome theater/media room so Jarrod got to watch the UT game on a big screen with beer in hand and no interruptions!!  At one point I went down there and noticed he was all alone, I said “aren’t you lonely” he just laughed and said “NO!!!!”  After the game he decided to join the rest of us and enjoy his birthday celebration.  We cooked out, the kids played outside until like 10:00 at night, we enjoyed a few beverages and a delicious cake!!
So for Jarrod’s gift I decided to give him something he’d never expect and be thrilled about…I got him tickets to the TN/LSU game on October 15th in Knoxville!  He was blown away!!!  I also had some pictures done of the kids in their TN gear and had it framed.  I taped an envelope on the back of the frame that had a flyer I made with the game info on it.  I talked with the people we are getting the tickets from and we both agreed they are too valuable to mail so I just made something on the computer for him.  And of course you know me… if I’m going to theme something I’m going to go all out so it wouldn’t be complete without a TN birthday cake!  It was a great celebration and it’s not over yet he still has October 15th to look forward to!!

Lots going on

Wow!  It’s been so long since my last post!!  I feel terrible, because there are so many things I want to document, because I’m using this as a blog but I also want to have this printed into a book (there are places that do that for you).  I love it because the kids baby books only have the typical “monthly update” which hardly covers anything.  I say kids…I still haven’t ordered Charlotte’s…bad mommy!!!  I have finally started my journal to Charlotte, okay well maybe I haven’t actually started it, but I did buy it the other day and it’s sitting on my nightstand…it only took 4 months!

We have just had so much going on.  This year I am again on the steering committee for MOPS, which I am so excited about, but it’s always crazy busy before the year begins trying to get everything ready, so that has taken a lot of my time.  A pretty serious situation has been with my sweet father in law.  A month ago he had his bladder removed due to bladder cancer and has suffered some pretty serious complications.  He has been in the hospital for the past month…some of it was in Greenville, he’s been moved back to Atlanta where his original surgery was done, and we are praying in the next few days he’ll be discharged for good.  The man has been through complete hell (sorry there’s just no way to put it nicely).  He wasn’t able to eat for about 3 1/2 weeks…NOTHING, no liquids, nothing to drink, and certainly nothing to eat.  He was in ICU for a few days, moved via ambulance back to Atlanta, found a pulmonary embolism, another blood clot in his leg, again he’s just been through hell.  BUT…as of this morning it looks like he has turned the corner and will be able to go home in the next few days!  Thank you to all of our friends and family for all of your prayers, I know Lee appreciates them!

We have also been back and forth to doctors for Charlotte.  We think she has a possible milk allergy.  We had a skin test done last week, but for some reason her skin didn’t react the way it should have so we now have to go have blood work testing done.  We are now on Alimentum formula which must be made of gold because it cost a small fortune!!!!  She doesn’t seem to break out as often on it, so at least it helps.  We do however, now own an Epipen, just in case!!  If you haven’t seen one of these things it looks like something you’d inject into a grown man.  Praying we never have to use it, but it does make me feel better to know I have it if we need it.

The best news is that Bo has started school…WOOOO HOOOO!!!!!  I can’t believe my baby is in 3 year preschool, where or where has the time gone??  I wish I could report that he’s doing great, but we are still struggling a little with separation anxiety!  He is still worried about me leaving him.  On the first day of school he was talking about going to see me and baby Charlotte at the hospital.  I think since the last few weeks of school last year I was on bedrest and then she was born the day before his last day of school that he associates school with mommy and daddy being gone.  The first few days he cried when I’d drop him off.  Wednesday of this week he was fighting back tears, I mean you could really see him struggling not to cry, but he didn’t and he went in and had a great time.  He does fine once he gets in there so I think it’ll just take a little while longer for him to truly trust that mommy comes to get him each time.  Here are some pictures from the past few weeks!

I thought this was really sweet…Jarrod had been outside working most of the morning with his “helper” and it was time for lunch so I asked if they wanted to eat outside and have a picnic.  I made them lunch and took it down and I just had to smile when I looked out the window and saw this…it just makes my heart smile.
