Recovery

So I thought I'd give a little update.  I've had many people asking how surgery went and how I'm doing now.

Like it says...you do very much feel like a gutted fish!  Surgery itself went well I believe it lasted about 2.5 hours.  There were a few tricky areas due to the amount of adhesions I had, which wasn't all that surprising.  With my history we knew it would be like that. The good news, which I'm pretty certain I asked my recovery nurse at least 10 times was "Did they have to open me up?" And thankfully the answer was No!!  I was so happy!!!  So mine was considered a LAVH and I will spare you details feel free to google that term on your own.

This has pretty much been me since being home.  The recovery is much slower than I thought it would be.  You hear "6 week recovery" and think yeah, but I'll be better by week 2 or 3, hahaha!!!!  Nope at almost 2 weeks I'm pretty certain they mean the ENTIRE 6 weeks!

I will try and do small things around the house and soon after I'm usually in a good bit of pain.  I hate pain meds so I try not to take them unless absolutely necessary. Unfortunately my mom wasn't able to be here, she is recovering from knee surgery, but we have had amazing friends and family help out. We couldn't have done this without them.  From taking the kids to bringing dinner or lunch or just simply coming for a visit.  I haven't left my house since coming home from the hospital on the 20th, I'm pretty close to loosing my mind so having visitors has been wonderful!

I've had the best and cutest little helper in town.  When I first got home from the hospital he didn't leave my side.  Always wanting to help me in anyway he can.  That enthusiasm has dropped off a bit but he's still a great helper when I need him. Charlotte has just been go with the flow.  They've had LOTS of play dates, spending the nights out, babysitter fun, really they are having a blast.

It's going to take a while to fully recovery and I just have to keep reminding myself of that. Everyone needs to take time to slow down, rest and push the reset button sometimes.  God knows when we need this and sometimes it may take something like a major surgery for Him to get our attention!  I'm pretty sure He is working on my patience in this process!   This is one of the best parts of a very cute movie, Evan Almighty, if you haven't seen it you should!  I adore Morgan Freeman and for those of you who haven't seen the movie he is actually playing the role of God and I just love this message.   Have a great Day!
