Bowling!!!!

Ever since the snow storm Bo has been obsessed with bowling.  It all started by watching it being played on the Wii!  It had been a while since he had seen it and all it took was one time and he was hooked.  He would constantly ask “play bowling”.  If you have a wii then you know the bowling game takes a little more than just waving your hand you have to actually push buttons at the same time so it required mommy or daddy to do it with him.  Then soon after the snow cleared we went to see James’ baby sister Maggie.  It was complete coincidence but they had a child’s bowling game set up for the kids so while mommy loved on Baby Maggie, Bo played that for an hour and had a horrible meltdown when it was time to go.  Then to top things off it turns out that Janice planned James’ birthday party at Stars and Strikes, which is basically a grown up Chuck E Cheese, except they have kids things too.  If you want to go somewhere and come home with a massive headache this is for you!  However, the bowling was separate from all of the games, so that wasn’t bad at all.  The kids got to actually bowl on a real bowling alley.  Bo was beside himself!!  He had so much fun!  Even to the point of when it was time for pizza and cake he wanted to keep playing and while he did sit to eat a quick bite he was watching all of the people in other lanes play.  Looks like this may be something daddy and I have to take him to do again!  He’s still talking about it and today while I was picking up some “potty training” incentives I found a kids bowling set at the store so I have that stashed away in my closet if he goes potty all week!

Later they brought out a ramp for the little kids.  They just set the ball on top and push it down it was great!

  If I remember correctly there was about to be a little heated disagreement here on who should get the balls!  They play like brothers and they fight like brothers!!

3 Years Old

I still can’t believe it, but yesterday our sweet baby boy turned 3!!!!

He had such a fun day!  Yesterday morning he woke up to decorations and presents.  This year he actually understood what was going on.  He had been asking for cake and presents two days before his birthday.  As soon as he finished his presents, at 7:30am the first thing out of his mouth was “where’s cake?”  At least I had an answer for him…he would get cupcakes later that day at school.  Later that morning I took some fireman themed cupcakes to his class.  They loved it!  Bo was a little unsure of everyone singing happy birthday to him, he just sat there and stared at his cupcake!  Last night, daddy came home a little early so we could grab an early dinner and of course we knew he’d want pizza.  After dinner we came back home for another celebration including a small icecream cake and playing with his new toys.  It was such a special day and he had a blast.

This year we aren’t having a full blown kids party, which is completely unlike me, but I’ll be honest…for a January birthday you need to start planning in Nov/Dec, which was the height of my morning sickness.  So…we will be dragging it out over a few weekends.  Next weekend we are going to Greenville to see Jarrod’s family and while we are there Bo will be attending his first Monster Truck Jam!!!!  He is going to be beside himself, I can’t wait!!!  We will celebrate there with the Lawson side of the family.  After that we are still trying to decide if we want to just have a few friends over to cook out and celebrate one last time.  January is such a hard month for us, because Jarrod is always gone two weekends out of the month, so it’s very possible we may have one last celebration in February! Something tells me he won’t mind!  Happy Birthday sweet boy, we love you so much!!

Not a baby anymore!

As I sit here and right this I am listening closely for a “mommy” to come from the monitor.  I just tucked my sweet baby boy in his big boy bed for the first time!!  I have to say it makes me so, so sad to know he’s no longer in his baby bed.  We wanted to make sure Bo had enough time to get settled in his new big boy room long before baby’s arrival.  Didn’t want him to feel completely replaced.  Not knowing how he would transition or how long it would take we decided after Christmas it was time to move him.  We found the perfect bed for him!!  The problem with all of our secondary rooms is they are very small.  So we were lucky enough to find a bed with storage underneath that wasn’t too big.  With a full size bed with headboard and footboard we don’t have much room for much else.  This bed is definitely larger than a regular full size bed due to the storage, but it’s great.  We got the matching nightstand and are waiting to get a ladder bookshelf.  As far as his clothes, we bought a closet organizer from the container which I absolutely love it’s perfect!! 

I’m doing his room in firetrucks. I found bedding at Pottery Barn that isn’t “themed” so as he gets older if he decides he doesn’t want firetrucks we can change it easily to something else.  We do have to get him a new mattress.  This one is old and from our guest room.  It’s also a little too high.  He can’t climb up on his own and it should sit level with the footboard and this one goes over, but for now it works.  I’m still up in the air with the wall color.  His room was already painted a dark brown, which works, but I’m trying to decide if I want to go a little lighter with a khaki.  Going to give it some time and see how I feel about it after living with it for a few weeks.  The pictures don’t really do it justice but here’s a sneak peak!

     Last time in his crib…I’ll be honest, I had completely forgotten to get a “one last picture”, so

as we were moving his furniture out I made Jarrod put the crib back in place and get a few shots.

20 weeks

So the other day I realized I haven’t blogged much about the new baby.  Probably because I haven’t even had time to focus on baby, poor thing, we’ve been so busy!  I am at the half way mark WOO HOO!!!  We went on Friday for my 20 weeks appointment.  It was so much fun because we got to see our little peanut!  For those who are wondering…we did NOT find out what we are having!  It was hard, but I knew if we could get through that 20 minute ultrasound we’d be good!!  That had to be the longest 20 minutes of my life.  We had the sweetest ultrasound tech and the hardest part was when I asked her if she knew and she said “of course, I had to sneak a peek”!!  Having someone right next to you that knew made it 100 times harder.  A lot of people have asked why we’re waiting and some have even made a few comments that make me want to say…you had your kids your way, now let me do this mine!! 

So why wait…

1- This will probably be our last and I don’t want to look back and wish I had waited, because we won’t have another chance.  We found out with Bo and to be honest after finding out, it was kind of like okay so now I have to wait another 20 weeks to meet him.  I remember wishing we had waited.

2- The people that we know who have waited all say it’s the most amazing experience you will ever have hearing the doctor or maybe even your husband say “It’s a girl or It’s a boy”

3- As adults we don’t really have that many surprises left in life!!!  Especially since we know I’ll have another c section, we’ll know the date, the time, we’ll know everything ahead of time. So there’s no surprise there.

4-The doctor said less than 10% of couples wait, I think it’s cool to be part of that 10%.  The doctor thought it was fabulous and is so excited for us.  In case you’re wondering…it’s not in my chart anywhere so even the doctors and nurses don’t know!

5-People have asked about the nursery, which cracks me up because is that really the most important thing??  Here’s my take on it…we have a room, we have the furniture so we know the baby will be safe and taken care of haha!  I see where with your first you want to plan and have everything ready, but I think with your second baby you realize those things really aren’t all that important.  The one thing I have said is I don’t want “gender neutral”, so we aren’t going to do anything (I know, so not my personality)!  I have found both a girl bedding and a boy bedding that I like so we will just wait to purchase it when the baby is born.  We can throw paint on the walls at any time.  Bo didn’t even go into his room until he was 3 months.  Actually with the bedding I think we may can use the same wall color for both so there’s a chance we could even have the walls painted if we want to.

6-The most fun reason…it’s driving some people crazy!!! 

I’ve had a few friends who waited and honestly, there’s just nothing like it.  I can remember when they’d be at the hospital we were all on pins and needles waiting for the phone call of what it was.  I know we’ll have family there and I know Jarrod is excited about getting to go out into the waiting room to tell everyone!!  That’s such a fun and unforgettable moment for the daddy!  If you know me well you know I’m a planner

As far as the pregnancy itself…it’s going really well.  They are keeping a very close eye on me! I’m feeling much better than I did with Bo at this point!  With him I was already getting miserable, starting to swell, I never felt good.  This time around I haven’t gained near as much weight, which hopefully means I’m not retaining as much fluid, which means maybe, just maybe we’ll get through this one without any complications.  My blood pressure has been good every time I go. I’m eating much healthier…because that’s what I’m craving.  I don’t think I ever ate a vegetable or fruit with Bo and now I will crave salads!!  I do like more fruity, sour type foods…with Bo I just wanted Chick Fil A and pizza haha!  I’m carrying this one different…it’s more towards the back so my hips are as wide as I am tall!!  Baby is moving around a lot, which is fun…Jarrod felt it the other night for the first time.  Bo is slowly warming up to the idea…he’ll at least talk about it now.  He will say “hi baby” to my tummy and when asked where baby is, he’ll point to his belly!   Here’s a few pictures for you!
