Preschool Starts!!

So last Wednesday was Bo’s first day of 2 yr preschool.  It was only an hour and a half, which is just a tease for us mommies!  He had a blast though and seems to love his class.  His teachers, Ms. Jenell and Ms. Karen are so sweet, I’m so happy he has both of them.  Friday was his first full day!! WOO HOO!!!  He went from 9am-1pm.  He was so excited and didn’t want any help carrying his bag or lunch box.

 

Friday was also Jarrod’s birthday so we gave him his gifts Friday morning and he and I went out to a wonderful dinner Friday night.  A big thanks to my Aunt Amy for keeping Bo overnight!  It was so nice not to have to worry about getting back and driving home a babysitter.  Saturday Jarrod’s parents joined us to celebrate a little more.  We all had a wonderful weekend!  Happy Birthday to a wonderful husband and daddy…we love you SO much!!!

This would be animals in Bo talk!  Monday we decided to have a family day…it’s been weeks since we have done something fun just the 3 of us and with daddy having off we decided to take Bo to the Yellow River Game Ranch.  We had a blast.  Bo loved the animals as long as they kept their distance!  Funny because last time we went he loved all of them.  It was really cute because every time we left an animal it was “bye deer”, “bye goat”, “bye sheep” etc…  He’s really into telling everything bye these days!  Afterwards we had a picnic and let him play for a little while.  It was a great ending to a great weekend!

Last week

So last week Janice and I decided to take Bo and James to do something special on their last week before preschool. We took them downtown to the Children’s Museum and they had a blast.  It was great because most of the schools had started back and we got there first thing so there were hardly any kids. 

On Thursday they did have open house where they got to meet their teacher, Ms. Janelle.  We are super excited that they are in class together.  Bo and James are actually the youngest in their class, I think this is going to be a good thing.  They divided them up by younger 2’s and older 2’s.  Bo is so physically advanced that I think it’s best for him to be with the older kids and I’m also hoping that since many will be turning 3 this fall and are potty trained that peer pressure might kick in!  We’ll see!  Their first day is tomorrow only for an1 1/2 hrs and then Friday is their first full day!  I’m not sure who is more excited Bo or mommy!!!

Still Here

Wow summer has come and gone and I didn’t write about any of it.  Probably goes to show how busy we’ve been.  I could sit and write about everything we’ve done done, but honestly I know you don’t want to hear all about our daily activities!

A “quick” overview would be…Bo went to summer camp two days a week for 5 weeks which was great for him and mommy!!  I spent a lot of those days getting ready for our new MOPS year.  At the end of last year I was asked to be on the steering committee.  It’s so much fun, but entails a lot right now so it has kept me very busy.  I’m also working on a wedding shower for my dear friend, Kellie, and a baby shower for my sweet baby niece, who I can’t wait to arrive!  The last week of July my parents were kind enough to take Bo so Jarrod and I could have some alone time.  WOW…you forget how great it is to spend time just the two of you when you haven’t done it in so long.  Bo had a blast, when we went to pick him up he didn’t even care that we were there.  Guess that means it was a great stay!  I wouldn’t mind it either if I got as spoiled as he did :)

We are spending the last two weeks of summer potty training.  He’s been doing it on and off most of the summer, but we decided to really buckle down this week and see where it leads.  I’m going into it with the mindset that if it works great, if not we’ll try again in a few months.  So far he’s done pretty well.  We will also soon be moving him into a big boy bed.  Right now he’s still in his crib and still to this day he hasn’t climbed out, however he’s getting so strong that he’s knocking the front rail off the track when he starts kicking it.  It’s to the point where if we want to keep this crib in one piece we probably need to make the move sooner rather than later.   Then this weekend may be the big binky good-bye.  We’ve been talking about it for a long time and honestly it’s mommy who hasn’t wanted to let it go.  Mostly because that’s his last “baby” thing, but I know it needs to be done.  He’s only allowed to have it at naptime and bedtime so at least I don’t have to break him of it during the day, but I know it’s going to be a long few nights.  That’s why I have decided it’s going to be done over a weekend so I have daddy’s support!

A lot of changes are taking place in the Lawson house, our little boy is growing up so fast!!  This fall is going to be super busy too!  Bo will be in school M,W,F from 9-1, we added a day and an hour this year!  He loves it so much so I know he’ll have a blast.  We will have MOPS every other Tuesday and when we don’t meet for MOPS we will be meeting for steering on the other Tuesdays of the month.  He is still going to speech therapy on Thursday mornings and is doing so well, his therapist is so pleased and doesn’t know if we’ll even need all 30 visits that insurance allows!  I will start fall Bible Study on Wednesday nights. And we will be making a lot of trips back to MS for baby and wedding showers, a wedding in October, and a baby in November, unless she comes early in October.   We also have some projects here at home we’ve got to work on such as painting rooms and switching Bo’s bedroom and playroom (due to heat and ac issues).

To Infinity and Beyond…

Last night we decided to go out for a family dinner and then go to the Disney Store to buy Bo his first Woody doll.  He absolutely loves Toy Story and his friend James has both the Woody and Buzz dolls.  Every time we are at their house Bo always picks up Woody and carries him around the entire time we are there.  So last night we decided it was time for him to have his own.  We haven’t bought Bo any new toys since his birthday and since his “half birthday” is coming up this week :) we thought it would be a fun gift.  Half Birthday meaning…this gives mommy an excuse to buy him a new toy while he’s still too young to understand.  Something tells me this may be our last year of this! 

As soon as we walked in Bo started shouting “Woody, Woody, Woody” he didn’t even want to let go so we could pay for it.  Until…he saw Buzz!  Then he went crazy over Buzz!  I did what every mom would do…looked over at Jarrod who was in the check out line with the look of “how cute is our son, he LOOOOOVES it” and quickly received approval of “just get it, let’s go”!  I’m sure there are a few other dads who can relate to this! 

So last night we played for a while and at one point I heard Bo saying “eee a eee ah e yoooon”  translation “To Infinity and Beyond”!!!  We’ve never taught him this so it’s clearly what he picked up from the movie, which again…makes me think he’s the cutest little boy ever, or he’s watched Toy Story one too many times!  He says it with such enthusiasm!  He also “flies” him around making all the noises one would make while flying…this has made me realize he is officially a little BOY and not a baby anymore!  Kind of bittersweet as he’s about to turn 2 1/2 this week. 

Woody made the cut for taking to bed and of course this morning we woke up to “You’re my favorite deputy”, “Yee haw”, and “There’s a snake in my boot” coming in loud and clear over the monitor.  Woody also joined him for breakfast, naptime, and has been carried around all afternoon.  Oh, and he does love Buzz…we’ve heard way too many “space ranger” noises today too, but I think Woody has a special place with Bo.
