So some of you know that we have decided to turn our front room, it’s technically a formal living, but no one uses those now, anyway…we have decided to turn ours into a playroom. We had an actual playroom upstairs in an extra bedroom, but Bo never wanted to go up there unless I was upstairs cleaning, doing laundry, etc… So we had toys upstairs and toys downstairs because over time it had just started to become the “unofficial” playroom. It’s right when you walk in our front door and I would absolutely cringe every time I walked past it, it was just the big empty bare room with toys! Made me crazy. So after talking about it for a while we decided to convert it to an official playroom. I painted the room, we bought a wall unit with organizing baskets, weeded out toys, we added drapes, and two lamps because when the house was built they didn’t put any light fixtures in?? We still aren’t completely done Santa is going to bring a table and chairs set that match the wall unit and I still need to get a rug, but…toys are put away and they even have their own tv in there for movies, Wii, etc… He still has some toys that aren’t down here and my plan is to pack some of these away in a big box and bring the box out every now and then. That way it will be like getting new toys and I don’t have to look at them all the time. It was nice this weekend, Jarrod and I finally felt like we had our own space back. Oh and for any family/friends buying Christmas and birthday gifts…please let’s talk first. We are going to concentrate on adding on to collections that he has and really plays with versus buying all new stuff that we don’t have room for! So here are a few pictures. I wish I had taken a good “before” picture before I started, but I didn’t.
First though…what can a few 2 x 4s, some material, and L brackets get you…
CURTAINS!!! My sweet friend Janice, who sews, helped me make these!! I’ve still got to play with them a little bit to get the material to hang just like I want but aren’t these cute!! And MUCH cheaper than you could buy any for!
